Smart With Screens is designed for grades 3–12, with content differentiated by grade band. Elementary lessons (grades 3–5) use age-appropriate language, shorter activities, and concrete examples. Middle school and high school lessons address more complex topics — including AI, digital reputation, and professional identity — at the appropriate depth for each age group.

The curriculum includes 18 lessons across 18 weeks, covering four skill domains: Digital Safety & Citizenship, Media Literacy & Critical Thinking, AI & Algorithms, and Digital Wellness & Agency.

Each lesson is designed to run 45–60 minutes. Most sessions have a defined opening activity, a main instruction or discussion component, and a closing reflection. Teachers can extend or shorten individual sections to fit their class period.

Yes — that’s a core design principle of Smart With Screens. Every lesson includes a detailed teacher facilitation guide with step-by-step instructions, discussion prompts, and notes on navigating sensitive topics. No specialist, technology coordinator, or outside facilitator is required. Optional professional development is available for schools that want it, but it isn’t necessary.

Smart With Screens is designed as a device-light curriculum. Most activities are discussion-based, paper-based, or facilitated by the teacher’s presentation. Individual lessons may reference devices or online examples, but students don’t need personal devices to participate. The curriculum works in classrooms with limited technology access.

District-wide licenses include customized implementation terms and the option to discuss sequencing and module prioritization based on your district’s specific needs and existing programs. A standard license includes: teacher facilitation guides, classroom presentation slides, student activities and worksheets, assessments and reflection exercises, scope and sequence documentation, implementation guidance, and Google Classroom delivery. District licenses additionally include educator training, implementation check-ins, and an end-of-year Pilot Summary Report formatted for board presentation.

Optional professional development is available as part of Option 2 and Option 3 licensing packages. This includes module-by-module virtual training, facilitation strategy coaching, and guidance on navigating sensitive topics in the classroom. PD can also be added to an individual school license — contact us for pricing.

All materials are delivered digitally via Google Classroom within 5 business days of license signing. Materials are also available as downloadable files. Schools receive access to all lessons and supporting materials for the duration of their license term.
