Programs
Helping students, families, and communities understand how the internet really works—and how to use it to build real opportunity.
Why Digital Power Skills Matter
Technology is now deeply embedded in nearly every aspect of daily life. Students, families, and communities interact with powerful digital platforms every day—most of the time without fully understanding how those systems actually work.
Algorithms decide what we see. Social media shapes behavior and perception. Digital footprints follow people for years and affect real-world opportunities before anyone even realizes it.
At the same time, the internet has created entirely new pathways for learning, communication, and career development that previous generations never had access to.
Digital education has to go further than the basics. It has to teach people to understand the systems—so they can make conscious, intentional choices about how they show up online.
Participants learn how online platforms influence what they see, what they believe, and how they behave—and how to recognize when it’s happening.
Online actions create permanent records. Students learn how digital footprints work and how to build a positive, intentional digital identity.
The same tools that can cause harm can also create real career and entrepreneurship opportunities—when people know how to use them with purpose.
Acevedo
I spent 14 years building online audiences, learning how algorithms work, partnering with major brands, and watching the internet evolve up close. I didn’t just use these platforms—I studied them, built on them, and taught others how to navigate them.
Now I take everything I learned in those 14 years and bring it into classrooms, libraries, community centers, and youth programs—because the communities that need this knowledge the most are often the last ones to get access to it.
BAM Digital Media exists because digital literacy isn’t just a life skill anymore. It’s a survival skill. And I believe every student, parent, and community member deserves to understand the systems that are already shaping their lives.
